(AP) — Baker Mayfield threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns to lead the resurgent Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 32-9 wild-card playoff victory over Jalen Hurts and the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. “We’ve fought so hard to get to this point, to get a chance to be in the playoffs," Mayfield said. Philadelphia outgained the Bucs 472 yards to 174, running 78 plays to Tampa Bay’s 44 in the first meeting. With Mayfield getting off to a quick start against a porous, poor-tackling Eagles secondary, the Bucs offense gained 178 yards in the first quarter alone Monday night. After the Philadelphia Eagles were defeated 32-21 by the Washington Commanders on Monday night, no undefeated teams remain in the NFL. Quarterback Jalen Hurts threw an interception – as well as two touchdowns – and the Eagles lost three fumbles as Philly’s self-inflicted mistakes stunted potential scoring drives. The Eagles twice led by a touchdown during the first half, but – thanks to Hurts’ interception and the gumption of the Commanders’ offense – Washington held a 20-14 lead at halftime. Both of the Commanders’ running backs – Brian Robinson Jr. and Antonio Gibson – had first half touchdowns as a widely expected Eagles victory turned sour. Wide receiver Terry McLaurin was the star of the evening for the Commanders, as he finished with eight receptions for 128 yards.

Although they had a decent season last year, no one could have predicted the Eagles would become Super Bowl contenders behind an inexperienced quarterback and a second-year head coach. Despite the disappointing end to the season, there were good signs to go off for the 2017 Super Bowl winners. After Thursday's victory over the Texans and setting a franchise-best start to the season, Hurts was in no mood for getting ahead of himself. "I know it's special for the city of Philadelphia," Hurts, who has at least thrown two touchdowns in the last three games, told reporters. After such a start, many are penciling in the Eagles to come out of the NFC conference and challenge in Super Bowl LVII in Arizona.
